Margin Enquiry

The Margin Enquiry report page enables you to view the Margin Enquiry report quickly and easily. You can add filters to the Margin Enquiry and generate reports on your sales and credit lines. Additionally, you can view the turnover and profits depending on the filters you have applied. The Margin Enquiry report has several filters at the top of the page and simply press the Run button when required. You can sort the orders and credits based on date periods, product groups and anything else on this page.

You can also;

  • export your report to PDF for best reporting. Alternatively, you can export to Excel (CSV file) to review for more analysis.
  • You can also drill down into invoices, orders, customer or product details by clicking the hyper-links.

 

The Margin Enquiry report is really useful for working out what products or sales person(s) is making you the most profit.

You can access the Margin Enquiry report via Sales | Margin Enquiry.

Using Margin Enquiry custom grids


Depending on what sort of information you require, you can enter the relevant criteria and then click Run at the top on the banner.

You can also export what you see to several different formats such as pdf, xls and .xlsx using the Export button on the banner.
Using the tool bar above the grid, you can do several other things to the information shown in the grid.

These are described as follows:

  • Group By Column(s):

To group by a desired column you simply need to drag and drop it into toolbar above the grid. As soon as you drop it the grid will group everything based on that column. You can group by as many columns as you like and expand all or collapse all the groups under the More menu.

  • Create Multiple Views:

To set up multiple views of this report you just need to click New on the toolbar and give it a name after making any customizations. You can create as many views as you like and also choose a default which will be displayed when you first click on the report.

  • Customize Columns Shown:

Using the Hidden Columns button you can choose what columns are shown on the grid and where. To add or remove a column, simply drag and drop the columns you like to and from the Hidden columns box.

 

Filtering your Margin Enquiry

  1. Select a filter you want to use from the top of the Margin Enquiry page.
    This could be the;
    • dates, sales order numbers
    • sell price tiers, and
    • sales person, which is good for working out sales performances of your sales staff etc.
  2. Press Run.

 

Exporting your reports


You can easily export your report to PDF (default), CSV, XLSC or XLS for best reporting. To do so;

  1. Press the Export button.
  2. Select what format you want your report to be, you have the option of;
    • PDF
    • CSV
    • XLSC
    • XLS

To select the option you want, click the Export arrow on right of button to provide you the options.
If you click on Export itself, it will default to the PDF setting, and a PDF is generated.

Working out your sales commission


The Margin Enquiry report page provides you with the ability to work out sales commission and only include completed sales orders.
You can work out sales commission by using the Margin Enquiry filters. For instance, you can run a report using the Salesperson field as a filter.

 

How to calculate sales commission


Sales persons can be assigned to a customer and marked on a sales order directly. You can do this simply by selecting an assigned sales person, who is responsible for that sales order (Settings|Sales person). This is useful for a business requiring reporting on total sales by sales person for commission calculation.

Consider the following tips when working out your sales commission on the Margin Enquiry page;

  • Group by salespersons — individual salespersons or multiple sales persons.
  • Use the date range as a filter.
  • Ensure the profit and/or turnover columns are available on the grid columns, to access click on Hidden Columns.
  1. Select the Date Range you want to run the report from.
  2. Enter the Sales person (if you want an individual report) that you want the sales commission for. You can drag and drop the sale persons from the hidden columns (if you want a group report) and group it.
  3. Press Run.
  4. Results appear. You can choose to export results to multiple formats by using the Export button —if required.
  5. You also can use the .csv file to work out commission calculated in a spreadsheet, This allows you to calculate automatically the sum's on numerous cells.
